Background:
Some residential swimming pools are more challenging than others to maintain and keep looking pristine. Rather than raise the cost of our weekly maintenance to all customers in order to cover all possible situations and required chemicals, we have chosen to share the additional costs with the owners of trouble pools. One of the persistent problems some pools experience is being Algae-Prone.
What is Algae?
Algae belongs to a group of predominantly aquatic photosynthetic organisms of the kingdom Protista. There are many different Algae, with many types of life cycles, and they range in size from microscopic species, to giant plants that reach 200 feet in length. Their photosynthetic pigments are more varied than those of plants, and their cells have features not found among other plants and animals. For these reasons, Algae may be Yellow, Brown, Green or Black. Some common forms of seaweeds including Kelp, Sea Lettuce and Toothed Wrack are actually forms of Algae.
Algae Control Plan
Does your pool have a lot of leaves and plant matter in it every week?
Is your pool leaking water? Is it a High-Use pool? Is your pool heat set in the high 80’s or higher?
Is your pool running, but still turning green regularly?
If you can answer yes to any of these questions, then we need to get you on our Algae Control Plan. You can purchase from us (at wholesale) or from your favourite Pool Supply Store, a specific list of products that remain at your home and allow us to treat your pool more effectively, and to maintain a chemical balance longer and more consistently than what is possible from just the one visit per week from your Pool Professional.
